When I was a car salesman I used to check shoppers agitated from car to car along rows of vehicles looking at the window sticker. They seemed interested in two things: price and fuel economy. It's ironic since both of those figures were highly unreliable.

Since then, the EPA has changed the grouping for activity miles per gallon and introduced the useful "combined" rating. We ofttimes look at this figure and study it to the lifetime average fuel frugalness our long constituent cars get. It's pretty accurate.
